Canyon Lake, Arizona... It's not clean right now. So, I went hiking up the first cove, the one the first bridge crosses. Have you ever wondered how far back it goes, and what's beyond? Me too!
Springtime in Arizona is magical. It really is. With all the rain, the desert looks like a golf course. The orange blossoms are blooming. The creeks and washes are flowing with clear water and waterfalls. These pictures are from two great hikes I went on last week. The first is Minnow Canyon formed by Fish Creek between Apache and Canyon Lakes. The next is Ladders Canyon, same vicinity.
I went to the lake today. My friend John and I rode around on old-school-stand-up jet skis. This taste of warm weather reminded me of summertime. I can't wait. I watched these videos to pump me up for the season of warmth.
John Compton and I, after a breakfast of hotcakes and pure maple syrup, drove to Canyon Lake to try our luck hiking to Skull Cave. There was more debris than I've seen ever at the lake-- even when I hit that log two summers ago. The storm really cleaned the pipes, so to speak. Now the lake is full of it. We parked the boat and followed the rock trail markers I left there a year ago. Success!
Once again, the Superstition Mountains have been delighted to have my bum sitting on their summit. Climb the steep mountain, why do we do it? (see 1-1-09 blog entry) Excellent day, perfect weather, pound-cake-energy-bar, good company, good times. I love Arizona!
