Arizona is a Desert

Fossil Springs used to be one of the best kept secrets in Arizona. A number of years ago, an article appeared in the Arizona Republic and also Arizona Highways, calling Fossil Springs one of Arizona's best water holes. Since those articles, and subsequent word of mouth, it has become quite popular. Unfortunately, many of the visitors grew up in a house where their mammas picked up all their trash for them... and they became blatant litter bugs. Come on, people. Pack it in, pack it out! Also, some of the litter bugs begin the hike unprepared, and then have to get rescued because they had heat exhaustion or they get lost. I talked with a few of the rangers, and they said it may become a permit-only back-country hike. That might steer the less savvy visitors away.
