Arizona is a Desert
Fossil Springs used to be one of the best kept secrets in Arizona. A number of years ago, an article appeared in the Arizona Republic and also Arizona Highways, calling Fossil Springs one of Arizona's best water holes. Since those articles, and subsequent word of mouth, it has become quite popular. Unfortunately, many of the visitors grew up in a house where their mammas picked up all their trash for them... and they became blatant litter bugs. Come on, people. Pack it in, pack it out! Also, some of the litter bugs begin the hike unprepared, and then have to get rescued because they had heat exhaustion or they get lost. I talked with a few of the rangers, and they said it may become a permit-only back-country hike. That might steer the less savvy visitors away.

India, Indeed
I was able to tag along with Wide Open Humanitarian to Ladakh, Idia, over there in the Himalayas. Six days of treating patients followed by a few of sight seeing and sweating. I learned what it was like to be a vegetarian. I learned about several different religions including, but not limited to Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh. I think I am going to start my own weight loss program and make tons of money. It's called, "How to lose 15 lbs in two weeks." My body sure does work overtime in elevations above 12,000 ft.

Have A Soup Pie
Sometimes, married friends need to have fun too. So I had a group of them backpack into Havasupai with me. Kurt, Will, Rex, Chris, Mike, Neal and I went this weekend. It's an inspiring place with some breathtaking views of cliffs, falls, and pools of water. See for yourself. The first day, we backpacked 12 miles, and then hiked another handful into Beaver Falls, swimming along the way. The second day, we swam at Havasu Falls and Navajo Falls, then hiked out and drove home. Great time of high adventure.
